Last week Brig, Jane, and I went on a little outing to Key Biscayne, an Island south of Miami and went to a lighthouse on the south tip of the island. It was beautiful to look out over the ocean and to also see the Miami skyline. We had a little picnic on the beach and Jane had so much fun playing in the sand. She was COVERED in sand. She loved knocking over the sandcastles that we built. We had such a great time and it was beautiful. We are having a great time trying to take advantage of all the amazing things to see and do here. Last weekend the superbowl was in town, and of course all the fans that came spent most their time here on South Beach. It was wild! We are so lucky and have some great friends that we trade babysitting with so on Friday night Birg and I got to go on a date. We walked down Lincoln Road and just took it all in. It was crowded with people and there was so much excitement. We walked through some art galleries and also watched some interesting people in the street. There was one guy that we just could not take our eyes off of. He was wearing bright pink platform shoes, black capris, a pink shirt with some necklaces, and shoulder length flowing hair, but bald on top. To top it all off he was standing in front of his boom box singing and dancing to little known 70's songs. It was AMAZING!
One of the most wonderful things about being in Miami is our awesome ward. We love getting to know everyone from all different backgrounds and cultures. My favorite way to describe the Miami Shores Ward is "spicy". There are so many wonderful people and I love being a part of it. It has been really good for us to have such a focus on sharing the gospel. We get to have the missionaries over to our house about once a week, and it is really helping us to keep focused on the wonderful message that we have and that we can share.
Jane is getting to be such a fun kid. She is so playful and such a joy to have around. She is definitely getting into EVERYTHING! But it is so fun to watch her learn. This week she started eating Cheerios and Brig and I just get a kick out of watching her eat them. She has her whole fist clenched except her index finger and thumb. It's so funny. She is also started to enjoy books. She loves turning the pages. My favorite thing is to watch Brig read books to Jane. He is a much more exciting book reader than I am. Jane loves it. Her other favorite things are being underneath anything (tables, desks, coffee tables) and picking up anything she can find on the floor and putting it in her mouth.

hey guys! I was so excited to hear you guys had a blog... I had Olivia email me your link. We have one too, but haven't updated it with pictures much since our camera just recently broke. Jane is growing up so much and she is adoreable! I hope you guys are doing well and enjoying south beach. We miss you! I'm going to add your link on our blog... Hope that's ok. -Ashley
I'm happy that you guys have settled yourself in Florida, even if it is so bloomin' far away! But your kid is cute, and know that I check the blog for updates all the time. Loads of Love, BUFF
I also get confused about the weather even though I've lived here for a year. Sometimes I feel like I'm on vacation, but then I remember I have to go home and clean the house. boo. We miss you guys and can't wait to visit that dreamy beach land.
Barb I'm so glad you guys blog too. Megan just gave me your url. Your baby girl is adorable and I love her name. We'll have to stay in touch. Miami looks gorgeous. -Summer
